Features Overview

This document provides an overview of Scout's core security services and how they work together

Overview

Scout Secured delivers a comprehensive suite of cybersecurity tools and practices designed for households, shops, and organizations of every size. The platform provides accessible, enterprise-grade protection that strengthens network defenses, protects connected devices, and safeguards sensitive information.

Each service builds on the others to create a layered defense model. Scout emphasizes simplicity, affordability, and resilience, making strong security achievable for everyone.

Scout routers serve as the foundation of this ecosystem, creating a secure, private network hub that connects users from any location. Each router establishes an encrypted virtual workspace that ensures privacy, trust, and confidence in every connection.

Core Services

Encrypted Site-to-Site Virtual Private Network (VPN)

The encrypted VPN is the backbone of the Scout Secured platform. It routes all network traffic through a protected inspection and monitoring layer, ensuring privacy and preventing unauthorized cross-access between connected sites or devices.

By channeling traffic through Scout’s secure network core, administrators gain consistent visibility, policy enforcement, and threat detection without exposing internal systems to the public internet. The VPN works seamlessly over existing connections, extending enterprise-grade control to homes, shops, and distributed organizations.

Content Filtering (Blackhole)

Blackhole applies network-wide content filtering to strengthen security and improve the browsing experience. It automatically blocks ads, trackers, malicious domains, shock content, pornography, and gambling sites.

Administrators can customize these protections by adding or removing blocked domains, aligning filtering policies with household preferences, business goals, or compliance requirements.

Network Visibility and Security (Sentry)

Sentry enhances situational awareness and protection by monitoring network activity for threats and policy violations. It helps administrators identify suspicious behavior, detect intrusions, and prioritize response efforts before vulnerabilities can be exploited.

Sentry’s data powers the Dashboard Reference metrics and insights that guide security maturity over time.

Password Manager (Vault)

Vault provides secure, encrypted credential management powered by Bitwarden. It enables safe storage and organization of passwords for individuals and teams within the Scout environment.

Administrators and users can access Vault through the Scout portal for a centralized and convenient password management experience without separate software.

Summary

Each of Scout’s core services contributes to a holistic approach to cybersecurity:

  • VPN provides secure connectivity
  • Blackhole enforces network hygiene
  • Sentry delivers visibility and active defense
  • Vault manages credentials safely

Together, they form a unified protection framework that evolves alongside your organization’s growth and maturity.
